(Anybody can join, this RP really isn't going to end so, if you get bored of it, either kill your character off, or have them retire from hunting marks.
Balthazar was waiting in the Sandsea for his party to show up. He'd sent a letter out to all of them to meet him there that day, before nightfall. He had a new mark that would only come out in the dark and he wanted some backup in case it was too strong for him. "Augh. Where the hell are they?"

Maya walked into the Sandsea, holding out the letter that a member of Clan Centurio had given her. "You want to join up with us? Start by hunting this mark. Someone's already on it, but he was told to wait until more members of his party showed up."
(OOC: I figured that a lazy member of Clan Centurio would give up his position to her.)
Armor clinking, the viera read the letter. "Balthazar... hmm... I guess I should find you." She walked up to the counter. "Excuse me sir, but would a certain Balthazar happen to be here?" She made her voice loud enough so that anybody nearby could hear her.

"Right here." Balthazar said as he walked up to Maya. "What's it to ya?" Balthazar didn't actually trust anyone until he knew them personally.

"Ah!" Maya spun around, a hand on the handle of her katana as he approached her. She then relaxed, bowing slightly. "My apologies. It's a default reaction I have to people startling me like that." He hand left her katana.
"As to why I'm here, I have this letter requesting additional party members to hunt a certain mark. Someone at Clan Centurio gave it to me. I presume that he was the original recipient." She held it out to him. "I assume that you wrote it?"

"That lazy son of a cockatrice!" Balthazar was definitely pissed. "How he's not still a Hedge Knight I'll never know!" he seemed to be attracting a lot more attention then was good for him. Especially since there were on duty guards.

Maya noticed that the Bangaa was attracting too much attention. "I suggest you calm down, sir, else we might get thrown out of here. We should probably wait until more members of your party arrive. As for the original recipient of the letter, he did seem like the lazy type. But seeing as we're going to be hunting this mark together, we may as well get to know each other. Teamwork will definitely have to be a factor. My name is Maya."
She sat down at a nearby table and ordered a mild drink for herself, so as not to confuse her senses for the upcoming hunt. "Can you tell me more about this mark? The letter wasn't very clear."

Balthazar calmed down and took a seat. "Well, it only comes out at night, and only for certain people. I found out the conditions and let me say, I'm pretty sure you're it's type. It's pretty powerful in magicks and is invulnerable to black, time, and arcane magicks. It also resembles a viper.

Maya looked thoughtful at this. "I'm its type, hmmm... and this is supposed to mean what, exactly? That I can be easily defeated by it? I assure you, I'm carrying many potions. I also know some white magic of my own, however I'm a bit lacking in the other arts."
"A viper, you say? If indeed I am weak against this mark, then we should definitely wait for other people."
In her mind, she berated Balthazar for questioning her skill. I am more skilled than I let on. If I can take down hordes of undead in the Bhujerba mines alone, I can most certainly take down this mark and survive. I'll have long-range fire support... certainly I should be able to win. But now, she wasn't so sure of herself. She had never fought a hunter's mark before.
(OOC: If possible, I could create another character, considering we only have two people for this RP.)

(OOC: Go ahead. I might do so myself.)
"I'm not questioning your skill." Balthazar said, a little annoyed she would so much as think that. He'd learned the hard way not to insult a Vierra. "I'm saying it only goes for Mist-sensitive beings."

Maya nodded. "I see it now. My apologies. I must have misunderstood. All we can do is wait for the others. If this mark is as tough as you say, we probably shouldn't do it by ourselves."
"You don't see many Vieras in Clan Centurio; that's why I sought to join. In addition to earning gil, I would also be making a good name for all Vieras. Even though..." she looked down at this, unwilling to say more.
"Tell me about yourself, Balthazar. We would do well to get ourselves acquainted, at least." She smiled a bit.

"Well. I'm actually seeking a certain mark. One that killed my parents. The best hunters the Clan had. As well as a certain weapon. Said to be used long ago when there were still machina cities. It was used by one Squall Lionheart. As such, I tend to wander off and daydream about it." Balthazar said, starting to wander off then.

Maya nodded at this story. "I see. Killing this mark means more than just clan honor to you, then. It means vindication. And... Squall Lionheart? Never heard of this person. This weapon, is it a gun of sorts?"
(OOC: Technically, the Final Fantasy games are always in completely different universes. You can have Squall in here if you'd like, but he would have been the Squall of this world and not the world of FFVIII. Also, I need to get my character idea down, I don't know who to create, what role to fill in the party.)

(OOC: I thought they were all in the same universe, but different time periods and regions of the world. And maybe they could be a soldier.)
"A gun, and a blade fused together. Nobody has ever found it, and some say it doesn't exist. But it's out there. I can feel it." Balthazar said. He couldn't prove himself, but he was determined to find it.

Maya noticed the determination in his voice. "I have heard of a legendary katana myself. It's called Masamune. Though I have no particular inclination to wield it myself."
As they talked, a tall hume dressed in steel and leather armor walked into the Sandsea, reading the letter. "Meeting in a bar? That bangaa couldn't have made a better choice. I love the atmosphere in this particular one. I wonder if he's here already?"
He looked around and spotted him talking with... his eyebrows shot up in surprise. A viera? Dressed in dark, red steel armor and carrying a katana. This was certainly a surprise. Vieras were very reclusive, and most of them kept to their home in that one sub area of the Golmore Jungle. Darc tried to think of the name, but it failed him. Only a few humes had been there before, to his recollection. It was also recorded that they usually fought at a distance with light armor and bows. This viera was dressed for close combat, and carried a close combat weapon at that. As far as he knew, there were no vieras who dressed like that in Clan Centurio. There were only a couple, period.
Smiling jovially, he walked up behind Balthazar. "Hello there, Balthazar. I have your letter here. This mark sounds tough, but I think we can handle it, especially with this viera here to help." He sat down.
Maya blinked at this hume's forwardness. "Ah... yes, I'm here to help. Someone at Clan Centurio gave me this letter." She held hers up. "I think the person who gave it to me was rather lazy and didn't want to do it himself."
Darc laughed. "Ah, yes, him... we all know him well. He's good at what he does, but he does it rarely. I think they're on the verge of kicking him out. As for you, viera, I certainly can't call you that. What's your name?"
Maya inclined her head. "Maya. And you?"
Darc nodded. "Darc. We'll probably need at least one more person if we're going to fight a mark like this. Give me the details if you have any, Balthazar, I need to know this thing's weaknesses and strengths."

"Well, like I told Maya, this thing will usually attack Mist-sensitive creatures. It does take the form of a giant viper. It comes out at night, usually in the Tchita Uplands, but it has occasionaly been seen in the Estersand, and it hates light and heat, so fire spells are best against it." Balthazar said as a moogle walked in.
"Excuse me kupo. Is there a Balthazar in here." The moogle said as he walked up to the barkeep.
