Setsuna told the Illusion, "Go outside this room and wait in the hallway. If someone other than Corbax appears, disappear and wait for him or her to go away." Yes, my liege. It disappeared and reappeared in the hallway.
Setsuna examined the pictures. This must be Corbax's other, he thought. They looked very different. Corbax's other seemed... alive, while Corbax had the illusion of life. And then he saw a creature that looked like Corbax's other, but it looked like a hybrid of fox and wolf. I guess that must be magic specific to Corbax's other's world... is that his other's true form?
Though the question remained: How did Corbax get the pictures in the first place?

Corbax had teleported to the Grey Room. He loked about the Organization members that were gathered there. Marluxia... Saïx... Demnyx... Vexen! Good he thought, walking to Vexen. "Vexen.." he said to the long-haired nobody.
"Ah, Corbax..." Vexen replied, his attitude ever so slightly uncaring, "Is there something you needed?"
"There's something odd in the dorm-room hallways." Corbax said, "Come with me... I don't know what it is..."
Vexen sighed, "Very well..." he said, creating a portal to the rooms. Corbax followed, managing to appear in the hallway faster than Vexen did. Corbax knocked on his door, "Setsuna! Press your ear against the door. This information could be valuable!"

Setsuna did so.

As soon as Corbax had requested Setsuna, Vexen appeared from a portal directly behind him. VExen sighed, looking around the hallway, meeting the Illusion face to face. His eyebrows raised in interest form his uninterested attitude. "An... An Illusion..." he mumbled, "That defiantly new..."
"Can you tell me about what it is?" Corbax asked, "And... how it got here, maybe?"
Vexen touched the Illusion, examining its features, "An Illusion is what happens when the heart of one is divided in half, one side missing light, or the other side missing darkness. I haven't researched enough to know what causes it, but my hypothesis is that this is what happens of a heart does not transfer correctly into a Nobody."
Corbax nodded, the back of his head feeling guilt from what Vexen had said, "I see..."
"Now, these spawns come from the one who have half of their heart lacking a specific emotion..." Vexen continued, "It's like a disorder... with some benefits, like being able to summon these creatures..." he stopped with the examination of the Illusion and harumphed, "They're stronger than most Nobody spawns, so this is a virtue that you showed this to me... Cloning experimentation might just be what I need to do..."
Corbax was silent as Vexen gestured the Illusion to follow, reluctant to ask his final question. He shook his head and called to him, "Vexen, is there a cure for this... 'disorder' if one of us were to get it?"
Vexen turned his head and frowned, "Now I wouldn't tell you that unless someone had it..."
"This is just for 'what if' situations..." Corbax said quickly.
Vexen sighed, "Well... you would be the source of the cure, honestly, Number Sixteen." he explained, "IN order to revive a heart that is split, you have to fill it with either darkness or light. I expect in some cases that the heart will fluctuate between emotionless and full of emotion, so you may need to swap what the heart needs back and forth. Fill the side with nothingness with light and the side of emotion with darkness. When the feeling of two-sidedness fades away, that's when the 'disorder' is cured. But be warned. PReform this anywhere at any given time will attract foes. The pitch black darkness will attract powerful heartless while the overflowing light will attract powerful nobodies. We won't be able to control them if it so happens that light becomes dormant within a given area. They long for light, and they'll pay no mind to our commands to them if they fish it out." Vexen said no more as he walked away, opening a dark portal and walking through with the Illusion.
Corbax looked uneasily back at the door. He knocked on his door, opening it to see Setsuna, "I take it you heard everything?"

Setsuna looked grim. "I heard everything. So it looks like we need to somehow cure myself? I don't know, Corbax..." he summoned another Illusion and patted its head. "I kind of like the fact that I can summon these guys. Think about it; if Illusions are more powerful than, say, Dusks, and I once saw one Dusk sweep three Shadows away like they were nothing... I wouldn't have to worry about losing my heart to Heartless again. My heart is there, yes, but half of it lacks emotion. I can deal with that, Corbax. Before I met you, Axras, and Xeac, my heart didn't have much emotion. I was a loner. So what would be the difference? C'mon, let's get out of here. I've had enough of this world. Let's get out before we're spotted."

Corbax nodded, "Right." he opened the door, making his way back down to the elevator with Setsuna... when suddenly, he saw the light above the elevator suddenly flash. He stopped dead in his tracks, cursing under his breath, "Someone's coming..." he growled. Corbax closed his eyes, feeling a cold aura coming up from the elevator. Saïx... Corbax looked to Setsuna and opened a portal next to him, "Suna... This is going to be hard, but to avoid suspicion and to keep trust with the ORganization... I need you to mortally wound me." he paused, looking as the light blinked as another floor was passed, "If Saïx was informed by Axel that you're here, we're going to be in deep trouble. The only way is to mortally wound me and escape." another light went up, "They'll look for you, but they don't know your face, so it won't be easy for them to navigate you. It's the only way," the second to last light went up and Corbax looked fiercely at Setsuna, "Now, Suna! Hurt me!" Corbax, knowing that Setsuna would hesitate, drew his sword, swinging it close to his face, but not close enough to kill him.

In reflex, Setsuna jumped back and summoned his shield. "I can't hurt you, Corbax! If I damage you too much, I may never see you again!" But he saw that it was necessary as the elevator was about to reach their floor. Setsuna swung his shield with great force, slamming it into Corbax's left side, hearing several bones shatter with the impact and also causing a deep laceration that poured blood. "It'll have to be enough! I couldn't hurt you any more!" He jumped through the portal and disappeared, reappearing inside the library in Twilight Town. Setsuna sunk down a wall, shaking a bit...
...and then he started to cry. Tears poured down in sheets from his face, he sniffling a bit afterwards. He called out an Illusion. "Go to Corbax's room and make sure he recovers! Give this to him if he's put into bed!" He rummaged around in the desk and came out with an Elixir, handing it to the Illusion. "Don't get caught! If someone other than Corbax is about to see you, just disappear, understand!?"
I will comply, my liege, said the Illusion as it began to leave. "Wait, before you go... can you teach me how to make those portals?" The Illusion paused. You must simply will it to exist, Master. Think about where you are and where you would like to be, and think about just how much you want to be there. Now I will be off, or was there anything else my master desires? "No. You may go." The Illusion disappeared.
Setsuna's fists shook; he would go back to The World That Never Was to see if his friend would be okay. But he'd have to wait. How long, he didn't know. He would wait a day and then go back. Hopefully the wound he dealt Corbax wasn't a mortal one.

Corbax was still conscious when Saïx found him lying on the ground. He was in a state of shock, unable to comprehend what had happened at the moment. Saïx looked over Corbax, kneeling down, his expression cold, "Who did this to you? I heard from Axel you had a little Nobody on your hands..."
Corbax managed to look Saïx in the eye, shaking violently, "I-It... It was my... the new... new member... he attacked me..." that was the last sentence he managed to get before abruptly passing out...
...
Corbax opened his eyes, finding his head was bandaged up as soon as his vision cleared. He grunted in pain. Setsuna had hit him pretty hard... Managing to slowly look over to his right, he saw that there was an Elixir sitting by his bedside. He blinked, reaching over ever so slightly, grasping the medicine, crushing it over his head once he lifted it a fair amount away. The pain went away as the Elixir's contents glimmered on his wounds... but he still felt exhausted. Corbax sighed. He'd see Setsuna tomorrow at Twilight Town as per usual once he was rested from such a blow...

Setsuna had settled into an uneasy sleep after the day's events.
... ...
They pushed him into a round chamber; he was surrounded by uncomfortable-looking chairs. Looking up, he saw cloaked figures. "Why are you doing this?"
"You have attacked one of our own, half-kin... in so doing, you have damned yourself. You certainly cannot leave alive, so we offer you a position within our Organization. If you could hurt your friend that you enjoy spending time with, that certainly proves you have the drive to join us. After all, only someone with no emotion would attack their friend..."
"I... I..."
"The choice comes now." With that, the view faded away until he was looking at an extremely large Nobody; it defied explanation. "No... no... NO!" Setsuna cried out as the Nobody's large boot came crashing down upon him...
Setsuna yelled out, jolting awake. It had been a nightmare... or had it been? Was it some sort of ill omen? He needed answers. He summoned an Illusion. "I need you to go call for Corbax. Make sure he's awake and stay with him while he recovers. Come back to me once you've made sure and report. Got it?"
Yes, my liege. It disappeared, reappearing in Corbax's room. It bowed slightly. Number 16, Corbax... My master Naxusset has sent me to make certain you are well. It functioned like a Dusk in that everyone could talk to it and it would respond, but it would only follow the orders of its master. In this case, Setsuna.

Corbax awoke slowly, hearing the Illusion. He grumbled, annoyed that it had to be so early, but not to an extent where he didn't feel like going. He had worried about Setsuna for the time he was there... Getting up, Corbax stretched, going out of the room and into the Grey Room. He had to inform Saïx how his condition was...
As soon as he got to the Grey Room, VExen had gestured him over while on the couch. COrbax lifted his head up, walking towards him, "You wanted me Vexen?"
"I just discovered a breakthrough..." he said, "Apparently, these Illusions are only going to be here for as long as whoever's heart lasts..."
Corbax cocked his head, "Explain."
"Well... After completing a test, I found out... With half a heart, it won't sustain. It will cause the heart to collapse eventually. And instead of becoming a Nobody, you become nothing. You cease to exist. The Illusions will follow in turn, disappearing with one's heart..."
Corbax blinked, wide-eyed, while Vexen continued, "Just thought you should know... anyway, your assigned mission was to search the worlds for that hooded hoodlum... go on. Get."
Corbax wasted no time. Opening a portal, Twilight town was his destination...
Corbax appeared from the portal at Setsuna's door to the library. He knocked on the door heavily, "Setsuna! This is urgent!" he exclaimed.

Setsuna was in the shower, but he heard Corbax. He quickly got out, dried himself off, and threw his signature clothes on - dark-blue vest, white shirt, khaki pants, and black tennis shoes, followed by a plain, silver ring.
He went up to the door, letting Corbax in, the Illusion returning to him. He patted its head. "Good job. You may go." It disappeared. "Corbax, I see you're all right after... after what I did." He looked down. "I suppose they're looking for me now? Doesn't matter," he put a hand on Corbax's shoulder. "I'm just glad you're okay."

Corbax repeated the gesture from memory, wrapping his arms tightly around Setsuna's back in a strong hug, "I'm much more happy to see that you're safe..." he sighed, letting go of him abruptly, "Setsuna... Vexen told me about your condition... Your heart... it won't last if it keeps switching back and forth like it has been right now. It will collapse on itself and you'll disappear..." he looked to the ground, "I feel as if I can cure you, but it's going to be dangerous for both me and you..."

Setsuna looked at the Illusion. "If my heart becomes whole again, Corbax, I'll have to fight for it again. But... if what you say is true... who's gonna be the Guardian of Twilight Town if I'm gone? Hayner's no good and neither is Seifer."
He looked down, then at Corbax. "I'll do whatever it takes. What do we have to do?" he said with a steely look in his ice-blue eyes.

Corbax sighed, "Alright... here's what we need to do." He lead Setsuna out on the Sandlot, where he began to explain.
"What must be done.. is that you must go into your heart. I will fill it with the respectable amount of light or darkness, depending if your heart shifts suddenly during the process. The emptiness will need light, while the darkness will quell the emotions of your light. It'll be hard for me, seeing how I need to keep you safe, since this process attracts all kinds of heatless and nobodies, seeing how one another crave the light or the dark.." Corbax held out his hands, the light and dark spot on the back of his hands radiating through his gloves, "Whenever you're ready... we'll begin the process."

Setsuna looked around nervously. "Sounds... complicated. Very well, if we're going to get this over with soon... and anyway it would seem that I don't have much time left."
He then got an idea. "Corbax. If I don't make it... mention my name to Vexen and Xigbar. They'll know of me. They threatened to kill me three years ago, did you know that? I was spying on one of their missions."
"Anyway, let's go."
