This is a Star Fox role play. The setting (if you played Command and know all the alternate endings) is when Fox McCloud retires and his son, Marcus, is now leader with Falco, Slippy's son and Peppy's granddaughter Lucy as the new Star Fox team. General Pepper is also retired and the new General is Peppy Hare. Wolf O'Donnell (leader of Star Wolf) is also retired. A new Star Wolf can be created if the role play goes in that direction or not.
--------------------------------------------------------
A long day of air combat training over, and night having fallen, Ace decided he'd go have a quiet drink at a small bar. He took a seat and ordered a beer, took a few sips and watched the TV behind the bar.

Torran had landed his small ship in a bay in Corneria City. He had been on a self-assignment - patrolling the airspace on Corneria for any signs of dissent. Though he had only covered a small part of the planet, he couldn't find anything. He had contacted Commander Etir to see if there was work to be found, but the commander had replied in the negative and suggested that he take the night off.
Torran acceded and thus landed the ship in the public bay. It did draw some eyes, true; military ships, while common, didn't look anything like the Gaian. If anything there were some whispers about how it resembled a Wolfen. Though the days of Star Wolf had gone by, the fear that a new group would be created was still there.
Torran had heard of the infamous Star Wolf team and Etir had told him about the group's antics. Long ago, they tried to stop the Star Fox team from killing a mad scientist named Andross. But Star Fox had prevailed and actually killed one of the members, someone by the name of Pigma Dengar, who had actually been part of the Star Fox team before, which confused Torran greatly and also riled him up. Nobody should betray their team for some misguided purpose like that. Nobody should betray their comrades in the first place.
These thoughts ran through his head as he proceeded to walk down the streets towards a bar that he often frequented. Good Fortune, it was called.
He opened the bar door and walked inside, nodding at some of the customers that he knew. But, then he saw someone new... and he was wearing the Star Fox emblem! Maybe he'd buy this person a drink.
He sat down next to this person and watched the TV for a while. He, too, ordered a beer. Their specialty, Blue Blitz. The drink was actually glowing blue, some form of harmless powder that was put in it. He sipped the drink for a while, and then looked at the TV, which had switched over to some program of how the planet Venom was now being cultivated into a planet much like Corneria.
"To think that Venom used to be the base of that madman Andross. Now it doesn't look anything like the sort. It should be named Panacea in my opinion... it's thanks to your team that he was stopped." He directed this statement at the Star Fox team member. "I respect your team greatly, sir. My name is Torran Gale... what's yours?"

Ace was taken a little aback, not being too social of a guy and all. He looked at Torran and then at his extended hand. Finally realizing what he was supposed to do, he took it and gave it a good shake, as to not be rude by just continuing to stare at it.
"Nice to met you Torran, call me Ace. Technically it wasn't my team, but my leader's father's. He's a great man, that Fox McCloud. His son, Marcus, is too. I'm honored to fly with him." Ace took a swig of his drink. "I hope to one day be worthy to be a real Star Fox."
Ace finished his drink. "How about you Torran, you a pilot?"

Torran nodded, taking a few sips of his. "I've flown for eight years. I operate under Commander Etir of the Cornerian army, but I only answer to him because I'm technically not part of the army. I'm a mercenary, but only partly so because my commander sends me on certain assignments. I can also take assignments on my own but I'm not paid for those."
He lounged back. "That being said, my commander only sends me on missions that would benefit the Lylat System. For example, I had to take out a group of aparoids not that long ago. I had some help for that, a few Cornerian fighters for backup." He didn't want to go into his past, though; it might seem like he was a braggart.
"So how long have you been with Star Fox, Ace? That must be great work."

"You sound quite experienced. Yeah, I got my first initial training in the Cornarian Air Forces as well, but never really wanted to serve under them. I thank General Pepper for getting me involved with Star Fox, him being an original member and all. It's great work indeed. You say your a mercenary as well? A lone mercenary?" Just then, something came on the TV behind the bar that grabbed Ace's attention. A speech being made by Dash Bowman.
(OOC: He was also in SF: Command. In case you didn't already know this. He's Andross' grandson. In one of the alternate endings, he takes over leadership of Venom and makes it a livable planet, much like Corneria. Dash then begins to show signs of wanting to not only lead Venom but the whole Lylat System.)
Bowman makes a speech about how Corneria is no longer the center of Lylat power, and how Venom's time has come. The crowed he's speaking to in Venom goes crazy.
"General Pepper tells me he's secretly preparing for another war with Venom." Ace says as he leans in a little closer to Torran so no one else hears. "Over the last few years, that Dash Bowman has been becoming more and more powerful, and he knows he may be able to take control of the galaxy. If that happens, Corneria may very well be eliminated from the Lylat. Has your commander said anything about Bowman's movements to you?"

(OOC: Never played Command, so didn't know that. We'll stick with that storyline.)
Torran shifted a bit. "A little. But my commander has control of other forces, not just me. He might have already sent them out in the meantime, but their dealings aren't for my ears, I guess."
(OOC: Maybe Etir could be in league with Bowman. I just thought of that. And when Torran finds out... well, we'll see when it happens.)
"I knew that Venom was going to be made habitable. But, I never really paid attention. I was just doing my job and following orders..."
To Ace's question, he nodded. "Yes, I'm a lone mercenary. When I'm sent out, though, I usually get help, sometimes from the Cornerian Air Force, sometimes other mercenaries."
He looked at the TV. "Though yes, now that you mention it, my commander has said little about this Bowman guy. What's Star Fox's plan for him, if I may ask?"

"Bowman's movements haven't been public knowledge. I only know so much because Star Fox is the right hand of General Pepper. And being a mercenary group, our only plans for Bowman are whatever General Pepper, our employer's, plans are. At the moment, we're on stand by. We've been having extended and increased training sessions. These issues with Bowman could go sour any day now." Ace ordered another drink.
"Perhaps you'll be employed to take out Bowman's forces if it comes to war, if you'll accept the job that is. Would you be able or willing to fight in a war?"

Torran nodded to answer Ace's question. "Without hesitation. I know what's best for Corneria and I would give my life to protect it if need be."
Suddenly, his communicator flashed. "Excuse me for a second." He picked up the call. "Gale."
His commander's voice spoke over the line. "Pilot Gale, I have an assignment for you."
"Yes, sir?"
"I have told you about a certain Dash Bowman?"
At "Dash Bowman", he linked to Ace's communicator as well, giving him insight. He mouthed out, "Dash Bowman" to Ace.
"Yes, sir, albeit very little."
"For good reason. I want you to take a scouting party and go to Venom. If he'd been stockpiling forces for war, we'll need to get the vanguard strike and not be struck first. That's why I'm sending you. I'll requisition five Cornerian soldiers to fight alongside you - you'll be in command."
Torran was taken aback. "Sir, I don't think I'm in a good position to lead. I'm a follower, and I don't even have a military rank."
Etir replied. "Star Fox doesn't have ranks, and yet they follow General Pepper. I could say that you're the same for me. If you accept this mission, I assure you that you'll be handsomely rewarded."
At this, Torran cast an uneasy glance at Ace. "Shouldn't this be a job for Star Fox, then? Since they're so good at what they do?"
"Maybe, Pilot Gale, but they don't have the Gaian. I'll give you a few hours to respond; that'll be enough time for you to make a decision. But let it be known that I can put an end to your career just as easily as I started it."
Torran was taken aback once again. "I'll get back to you quickly, sir."
"Let it be quick." With that, communications were broken.
Torran sighed. "The commander has been... a bit uneasy as of late in his calls. But he's never taken it out on me like that..."

"Speak of the devil. May I be so bold as to advise you accept? I'm sure if I told Marcus about this we could get an approval from General Peppy and accompany your squad out there." Ace finished his drink and slid the glass back to the bar tender.
"Well my friend, I must be getting back to the Great Fox now. Here, it's my communicator contact code. Let me know if you accept the mission or not." Ace wrote the code down on a napkin and offered Torran his hand to shake it once more before he left.

Torran was taken aback once again. Me, flying alongside Star Fox? It would be a great honor!
He composed himself, though, and shook Ace's hand. "Hold on a second, Ace."
He turned on his communicator and was connected to Commander Etir. The bear spoke. "Pilot Gale. I assume you're calling to accept?"
"Yes, sir. Though I don't think the squad will be necessary; if it all goes well, I'll be joining another band for the time being."
"Well, I'd have to approve of it first. Who is this band?"
"It's Star Fox, sir."
The line was silent for a few moments. "The Star Fox team? How in the blazes are you going to fly with them?"
"I met one of their members in a bar, sir. We talked a bit, and then we saw a program of Bowman on a TV inside the bar. Then you called. He said he'd get everything worked out with General Peppy."
"Ah, General Peppy... is this Star Fox member near you?"
"Yes, sir, but he was going to go back to the Great Fox."
"Then I'm giving you new orders. Go with him, Pilot Gale. If everything works out, you may have a powerful ally with you if and when you confront Bowman. If the General says otherwise, then we can revert back to your original orders and you'll have your squad."
"Sir, yes sir. Gale out." He broke communications and looked at Ace. "Well, Ace, that was my commander. He gave me a new order - to go with you to the Great Fox. If your own commander grants you permission to take on an additional squad member, that is."

"I'm sure Marcus wouldn't mind. Follow me then, the Great Fox is docked at a station not far from here." Ace went back to his Arwing and fired it up, waited for Torran to take to the skies, and then headed for the Great Fox. As soon as they were close enough, Ace sent out a transmission to ROB, the robot pilot of the Great Fox.
"Ace Goldwolf reporting back and requesting permission to bring a guess aboard. His name is Torran Gale."
"Recognized and accepted." ROB said and the docking bay opened up for Ace and Torran. Ace docked his ship, as soon as he got out of his Arwing, he saw Falco waiting for him in the docking bay.
"A guest huh? This isn't exactly the time of day for a tour you know." Falco said with his arms folded.
"He's not here for a tour, he's here under orders of his commander, Etir. He was given a mission to investigate if Bowman really is preparing for war. General Peppy was pondering sending us on a similar mission, wasn't he?"
"'Etir' huh? I've heard of him. Don't like him," Falco waved his arm around as if he smelt something bad, "and as a matter of fact, that old Hare gave us a mission an hour ago to do the same. A scout mission to Venom. If your friend has the same mission, he may as well fly with us. Clear it with Marcus first."

Torran quickly went to the public docking bay and took to the skies, following Ace's Arwing.
During the flight, he noticed that this particular Arwing looked different than the others - slightly chunkier, yet better-looking. He'd have to get his paws on the schematic later.
Torran sent a ping signal to the robot aboard the Great Fox confirming that he was real. "Thank you for permission to dock."
He stepped out of the ship once he docked, looking around. "How did you guys build this thing? Ah... you're Falco Lombardi, right? I've heard of you. It's a pleasure to meet someone of your skill." Torran didn't offer his paw to shake, as Lombardi's sarcasm was legendary and he didn't want to be on the receiving end of it.
Torran bristled at the comment about his commander. "I'll have you know that he has good intentions. I never would have become the pilot I am now without his guidance."
He nodded at the last part. "But I agree, clear it with your leader first."
In his mind, he was exultant. This could be my big break. If it all goes well, I'll be flying with Star Fox on the same mission.

"Clear what with me?" Marcus said as he walked into the docking bay to join Ace, Torran and Falco. "I heard we had a guest on board."
"Sir this is Torran, Torran this is Marcus. Marcus, Torran's commander, Etir, has given him a mission to accompany us on our mission to Venom. I thought I should inform you." Ace said to Marcus.
"Of course that's alright, more help in the skies, the better. Well Torran if your coming with us tomorrow you may as well stay here on the Great Fox with us for the duration of the mission. We have some extra bunks for you down the hall from ours on the bottom level. Do you have any questions or anything to tell me? Any other words from your commander?" Marcus addressed Torran.

Torran shook Marcus's hand. "It's a pleasure to meet someone of your stature, sir. I am honored to fly with a group like yours. And thank you for the offer of a temporary bunk; I'll accept. Your father is a great man, I'm sure you take after him. But enough of the flattery." He coughed.
"As for words from my commander, the original assignment was for me to take five Cornerian fighters on the scouting mission. But I assume that we will get the job done much faster. But, he hasn't said anything to me since I accepted. Pilot McCloud, I will follow your commands as we fly. Or may I just call you Marcus?"

"Pilot McCloud was my father, so yes, please just call me Marcus." He said with a smile. "I'll have Ace show you to your bunk then."
Marcus and Falco said their 'good nights' and left the docking bay.
"Well Torran, lets get some shut eye." Ace lead him to the bunks and made sure he was settled in. "Feel free to wander the ship if you'd like. I trust you to not touch or mess with anything. Everything in this ship is monitored so it's not like you could get away with anything anyway." Ace laughed a little at his silly joke before leaving Torran to his things for the night.
-----------------------
Next morning, somewhat early, the team awoke to the alarm clock that chimed in every room. Then an announcement from Marcus to meet in the ship's bridge room for a briefing before take off. Ace got there relatively quickly and waited for Torran to appear.
