So here is an RP that anyone can pretty much jump into if they want; its basically that people who live in urban areas can have pokemon now and rec centers for every neighborhood have "gyms" where you can earn a badge for that neighborhood. So for example my charactor would be taking place in the "Philadelphia League" First as if that were like the "Joto League." If you are from another city you can feel free to write about another charactor in another scene from the league of your city with your neighborhoods and such and then perhaps our charactors can meet up and team up. Also if you wanna do those girly pokemon pageant things thats cool with me too. I forget what those are called... RULES - No starting with legendaries; legendaries must be HARD AS SHIT to capture, no easy catches.
- If you are starting with different pokemon then were mentioned before PLEASE mention the city you are in. It MUST be a real city on earth, not a fictional city.
- No godmodding your pokemon or your charactors. They must evolve at a normal rate like any other pokemon unless they use stones. and RARE CANDY DOES NOT EXIST. Trainers must be human.
So anyway... heres the first post: CURRENT CITIES ON THE MAP: - Philadelphia, PA (Squirtle, Vulpix, Budew)
Aria spread Nutella over her toast, thinking about her day to come. It was september 5th, 2020, her first day of Sophomore year in high school. Of corse, this should turn out to be a normal boring year just like last year. After all, It wasn't like there was anything other than her friends to look forward to. After all who wanted to go to school? She sighed and flicked on the telly. It was an hour before she had to leave and catch her train downtown, so she figured she may as well get comfortable. She flicked to the news, just to see if there was anything cool happening in a boring place like modern Philadelphia. Aside of corse from the stupid traffic emergencies that just went to show nobody in Philly knew how to drive. The standard news anthem flared up on the screen and then boxes came up on the telly. “Hmm,” She thought aloud, waving her hand around on the screen until the slow-ass curser finally appeared. She closed her hand over the ‘New Events’ box and the curser clicked, opening a scrolling screen of stories and their details. She thought aloud as she scrolled. “Factory Burning down, not new. Panda has babies saving the whole species, oh, well thats good. Hmm, boring, boring, don’t care don’t care.” She scrolled down to the bottom where something caught her eye. She looked at it twice to make sure it said what she thought before clicking on the page entitled, ‘Pokemon are now Real.'

The page loaded and the anchor woman popped up on the screen. “Breaking news, today, a group of scientists from universities across the globe have discovered a new type of mutation among animals. Tested in a group of specific animals that possessed the gene, research has found that very powerful animals can be bread, animals with strange appearances and unique abilities to do what was never thought possible. The scientists are naming this sort of mutation, Pokemon, in honor of their similarities to the popular 1990’s kids show, Pokémon. After much debate, it has been agreed that these “Pokemon” are going to be allowed to interact with other animals. The Pokemon gene is dominant over the regular gene of the animal, and researchers say that within a few generations of animals, Pokemon may be the new animals in this world. It is believed overall that this is an incredible help to society, as Pokemon seem to me more intelligent then their original ancestors, and some even seem to be more intelligent than humans. It is the hope that in future generations, Pokemon will be able to work together with humans to create a better society for the world as a whole. “As such, the mayors of certain cities across the globe have decided that youths should be the first to receive Pokemon companions, and with parents permission, anyone in the Philadelphia school district starting tenth grade to twelfth grade can come to city hall at 5:00 this evening and receive a starting Pokemon of their very own.” With that the news cut off. Aria quickly finished her toast and hurried out the door, though she had plenty of time to spare. “I’m off!” She yelled to her mom, who was still getting dressed upstairs. She’d call her later- around 5:00 for permission. She couldn’t wait to get to school and tell her friends about it. She was getting a real Pokemon!

As surprising as it was, when Aria had told her friends about her findings, not only had none of them known about it, but nobody was able to go to city hall after school today. She would have to go alone, but she did promise to look into when the Pokemon gene would be released so that they could try to catch some Pokemon for themselves. Aria wasn’t sure that one would be able to catch a Pokemon without first having one, but she agreed to look into it. At the end of the day she went right to city hall. She didn’t care that it was only 4:00 and she’d have to wait an hour. There would probably be crowds of high school kids waiting there to get their own pokemon already. She’d be lucky to even get there while there were any left. But to her surprise again, it seemed nearly nobody knew about it. There was one kid from her school, who probably over heard her talking about it, and maybe 20 other people, but other than that, there was nobody waiting outside city hall. Then she remembered it. Lightbulb moment. Nobody watches the News anymore! Heh, so this time, her being a total nerd had paid off, because according to the updates she’d gotten on her laptop in class today, they were only giving out Pokemon today. She’d be one of the first few people to get their very own pokemon in philadelphia! This was just too cool.
At last 5:00 came and she was allowed inside of the ground floor of city hall. She and the other 4 who had been first in line (they were calling them in groups of 5) were called into another room and told to wait at the sign in sheet until their name was called. There were only three pokemon there to choose from, a grass type, a water type, and a fire type. Two people had gone in before her, and had come out with their pokemon. The first came out with a Pokemon that Aria recognized from her hundreds of pokemon cards at home. Call her a fangirl, but she loved Pokemon. That first Pokemon, nestled in the arms of a girl about a year older than her, was a Budew. The second Pokemon, who came out walking alongside a boy who also appeared to be a Junior like the girl before, was a Squirtle. So those were the grass and water types. She wondered which Pokemon was the fire. She thought about the starter Pokemon she knew of that were fires. There was Charmander, or Cyndiquil, or maybe even Chimchar. Not her favorites, really. She thought it over. something like that wouldn’t really fit her style. All of those Pokemon were either aggressive or just didn’t listen to their masters, according to Pokemon cannon, not that cannon necessarily applied here. After all who knows what real Pokemon would be like. Still, given the choices. She definitely knew who she was going with. She wanted a squirtle, for sure!
Her name was called third and she walked in the door to the lab that was set up there. The doctor who was there had her call her mother for verification that she could have one, and what was her mother to say to it? She was already there taking up the scientist’s time so she may as well get one. Aria was bouncy with joy at that, and with that out of the way, she turned her attention to the three pokeballs out on the table. The scientist pressed the buttons in the center of all three pokeballs and out they came. First, the Budew, a male, popped out and smiled at her. He was adorable, but she couldn’t really say she felt a strong connection to him. Then the squirtle. She smiled at him and he smiled back, but something felt incomplete. Maybe there was something that a trainer needed to do before a full connection was made, because Squirtle was definitely the one. Then the fire type popped out of its pokeball, this one a female, a pretty tawny colored fox with six curly tails and a matching curly maine. She looked up at Aria and blinked a set of gorgeous brown eyes. Those eyes, she thought. Those eyes were amazing. Aria looked at her a little longer, and eventually realized she was staring. A Vulpix. A cute, soft, gorgeous female Vulpix stared back at her and Aria felt something real between them already. “H-hi.” She said softly.
Vulpix looked at her, then stood up on her four paws and took a step closer to her, sniffing her face. After a moment, she licked her, and Aria melted.
“I love you!” She exclaimed, clasping her hands together and smiling wide with happiness. She wanted so much to jump around and pick up this cute little Vulpix and hug her, but she resisted for fear that she would scare the little cutie.
Vulpix took another step forward to her, not realizing how close the edge of the table was. She stepped off with her front paw, and put too much weight into it before she could realize that she was going down and about to fall and hit the hard linoleum floor. Without thinking, Aria ducked down and caught her in her arms, cradling her like a baby. “Oh, my gosh…” She breathed. “That was too close…” She looked back down at vulpix and smiled. “You gotta be more careful sweetheart.”
Vulpix licked her again. Oh yeah, this was definitely her Pokemon.

The next morning Vulpix licked Aria awake. She hadn’t put her in her pokeball yet and she wasn’t sure that she ever would. Pokeballs were so small, and when you captured a Pokemon in there, it changed their ideas about you. She felt it was kind of weird that a Pokemon instantly liked you after battling it in the wild and capturing it in a ball. If she could manage it, she’d capture a Pokemon without using pokeballs.
She took Vulpix to school, letting her snuggle inside her backpack with the zipper open so she could pop out if need be. During lunch that day, she took vulpix out at the table and fed her a bottle of Pokemon formula, recalling what the doctor had said a few minutes after picking her:
“Oh!” The doctor had said, examining her one last time. “This one was the baby! Officially we can’t let her with a trainer yet as she still doesn’t eat pokeblock.” He began to pick Vulpix up and take her away. “I’m very sorry, I’ll get you another Vulpix.” “No!” She’d called after the doctor. “Please, I’ll do anything,” It wasn’t fair for him to take her now. Aria had already fallen in love. “just let me keep her!"
The doctor couldn’t separate them now. Who could? Especially after Vulpix struggled out of the Doctor’s arms and ran back to Aria’s feet. He allowed it on the condition that Aria was not to leave the city with Vulpix until she was on pokeblock, so that he could monitor her growth.
As such, Aria was quite content giving Vulpix her bottle five times a day, She was so cute when she drank it! Every time, she’d get almost to the bottom and start to get really sleepy, resting her paws on her little extended belly. She’d stretch out for a moment then curl up with the bottle still in her mouth, her little back feet curling upward around the bottle and her eyes closed sleepily. Aria took the bottle away and tickled her tummy with a finger, cradling her in one arm. As she ate her lunch with her free arm, she noticed the boy who had been in the line with her from her school. It seemed as though he had picked a budew, as he had just let him out of his pokeball to feed it some pokeblock while lunch was going on. Technically, except for lunch, Pokemon were supposed to be in their balls at all times. But nobody had caught Aria and she wasn’t planning on changing.
The boy came over to the table that Aria was at, the budew trailing behind him. “Hi,” He said. “Looks like you and I are the only ones in school who got Pokemon yesterday. I’m Peter, by the way.”
“Aria.” She said, greeting him. “Yeah its a shame too. I heard it was one day only.”
“It was, and wasn’t it awesome?!” Peter had been as excited as she was. “Your Vulpix is incredible! Can I pick her up?”
“Well, I’m not sure..” Aria was weary of all that. “She’s still just a baby, so she’s kind of sensitive.”
“Understandable.” He said. “I can’t wait. I want to work real hard so my Budew becomes a Rosalia soon!”
“I heard that Budews don’t evolve when they train to be stronger.” She said, looking back at the Pokedex app for her iPad that she had downloaded last night. “It says that they can only evolve during the day when his happiness and friendship is at it’s max with it’s trainer.”
“Well, then I guess I’ll just have to make Budew as happy as I can!” He said, picking Budew up and giving him a gentle hug. The budew hugged back. Aria could tell it wouldn’t take long for Budew to evolve with someone as kind as Peter. She hadn’t spoken to him much, but she knew that he was a very kind person from seeing him around. “What about you?” He asked. “Are you going to buy a fire stone and evolve vulpix?”
“Nah.” She said. “Not yet anyway. Not only are Pokemon stronger when you train them as much as you can as their first form, but I couldn’t bear to see my baby grow up so fast!” She cuddled with her, careful not to wake her up. “Maybe when she gets a little bigger we can have a battle.”
“That would be a challenge.” He replied. “After all, your Pokemon is a fire and mine is a leaf. I’ll have to make him pretty strong before that.”
“Yeah, and then Vulpix will get to train with a really strong Pokemon!” She said.
“Challenge Accepted.” Said Peter
